Information this site collects

This site may collect basic technical information such as browser type, device type, referring page, approximate location, and pages viewed. This information is used to understand site traffic, maintain the site, prevent abuse, and improve the content.

Advertising and cookies

Field Notes may use Google AdSense. When Google advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may place or read cookies or use similar technologies and identifiers as part of serving and measuring ads. Google advertising cookies can allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site or other sites, subject to the visitor's region, consent choices, and the advertising settings in use.

Visitors can control or opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Visitors can also learn about opting out of some third-party vendors' personalized advertising through AboutAds.

Analytics

Field Notes uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage such as pages viewed, referring pages, browser and device characteristics, and approximate geographic information. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers as part of that measurement. This site does not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through normal browsing.

The current Analytics property retains event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. User-level retention is reset when new activity is recorded for that user identifier. These settings do not change the retention of Google's standard aggregated reports.

Email and direct contact

If you email Eldritch IT, the information you provide is used to respond to your message, investigate a correction or security report, or discuss requested services. Do not send passwords, private keys, or other unnecessary secrets by email.
