Iām Jessie Owens, founder of Eldritch IT LLC. I started Field Notes because too many technical guides explain the clean version of a project and skip the part where everything broke.
Everything here comes from real work
Every article starts with something I actually built, repaired, configured, deployed, or had to troubleshoot. That includes Windows recovery, networking, Linux, self-hosting, homelab projects, cloud infrastructure, and the process of building Eldritch IT from the ground up.
The goal is not to pretend every attempt went perfectly. It is to document what worked, what failed, and what I would do differently the next time.
Field Notes and Eldritch IT
The main Eldritch IT site stays focused on services for small businesses. Field Notes is where I can show the technical reasoning, experiments, and lessons behind that work in enough detail to be useful.
AI use
I use AI for editing, organization, research assistance, and some development work. When it plays a meaningful role in an article or project, I say so. The systems, problems, decisions, and experiences being documented are my own.
